Directed by: Joe Dante
Written by: Chris Colombus
Plot:
When Randall Peltzer brings back from Chinatown a Mogwai for Christmas to his son, Billy, everything in their daily lives changes. To take care of a little fur-ball like this one, you need to respect three rules:
1. Do not expose to bright lights
2. Do not let them get wet
3. No feeding after midnight
But one day, as Billy’s friend, Pete, spills water over the little mogwai (named Gizmo) he duplicates into five other creatures, way meaner than the first one. But something else happens, way farther than Billy could’ve had imagined, these five little monsters transform into evil, nasty and crazy Gremlins, ready to destroy to the calm and enchanting city of Kingston Falls. As Billy and his girlfriends, Kate, trie to save the village, they realise that these troublemakers have actually one way of getting killed…
Critic:
As I am writing this post, I think of the first time I watched the movie. I remember how it made me laugh and in the same time, gave me some chills. Joe Dante’s “Gremlins” is an absolutely, amazingly fun time. With Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus behind the camera, Gremlins can not be a forgettable movie. It mixes both fantasy and ordinary through the life of the young adult, Billy Peltzer. The Gremlins are hilarious to watch and gizmo is probably the cutest creature in the American cinema world. Sometimes, movie intros can be rather boring, but I loved the way they introduced every characters from Randall Peltzer’s crazy inventions to old annoying Mrs Deagle. It is one of my favorite movie since my early ages and I will never say no if someone asks me to watch it again. It’s a fun movie to watch in family or with your best friends, thought it may not be adapted for young children under 9 years old. I recommend it to every families in look for a Christmas movie, ready to laugh and be scared in the same time with special effects still appealing even though they are starting to get old as the snow falls outside your kitchen window. And don’t forget, don’t feed them after midnight!
